The white paper names six key ways for a Change Agent to achieve success; one of which is the ability to frame a clear and compelling vision. Luritia Doan offers a terrific example of someone with a bold vision who is able to effectively communicate ideas. Last week, Doan, a no-nonsense, high energy businesswoman from Virginia, took an oath of office as head of the Government Services Agency. Ever since President Bush nominated her for the position in mid-April, she has been extremely vocal about her vision for the future. Here are some great quotes that illustrate her courageous concept for the future, her optimistic outlook, and her use of strong language to prove a point:

"We at GSA are going to retool our abilities to respond to national emergencies and you can expect some real innovative ideas on this. You can actually expect them in the next few days."

"This is an agency that has its challenges this is a turnaround... It is nothing that cannot be fixed."

"To be the best, we are going to need to improve all of our services and better understand and anticipate the requirements of our customers. But we can do it."

Whether or not Doan accomplished her vision for the GSA will be interesting to follow. No matter what, her bold approach to sharing ideas and fearless way of promising rapid transformation in the agency is inspiring.
