81 year old Lee Iacocca, the former CEO and Chairman of Chrysler and best selling author, has announced that he is working on a new book entitled, "Where Have All the Leaders Gone?" The Associated Press covered the release from his publisher last week:

Simon & Schuster plans to publish the book in time for Father's Day in 2007. Financial terms were not disclosed.

"I'm writing this book because I flunked retirement," Iacocca, who stepped down from Chrysler in 1992, said in a statement issued Wednesday by his publisher. "There is too much happening in the world and too much to be done to sit on the sidelines. I hope that with this book I can engage others to take action to address the myriad challenges we face at home and abroad."

Among the topics he will address in this somewhat harshly titled book are, the state of America’s automotive industry and America’s relationship with our allies. Perhaps he will also celebrate those leaders who are alive and well in government, making progress as change agents. Given Iacocca’s candid nature, and the wealth of success he has achieved during his 81 years, readers are likely in for some sobering insights. I can’t imagine him holding back. Iacocca is a true American treasure with much wisdom to share.
